Maroš Potokár (1982) studied at the Conservatory in Košice violin and conducting. He continued his studies at The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he studied violin in the class of professors J. Kopelman and A. Jablokov and at The Janáček Academy of Music in Brno, where he graduated in conducting class of R. Hališka and R. Štúr. During studies he also graduated masterclasses with Zsolt Nagy, renowed conductor and professor of Paris Conservatory.
As a conductor he cooperated with PKF - Prague Philharmonia, Brno Philharmonic, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, State Philharmonic Košice, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, National Philharmonics of „Sergey Lunchevici” Chisinau, The Academy Chamber Soloists Orchestra of AMU in Prague, Orchestra of The Slovak National Theater Bratislava, State Theater Košice, National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Ostrava and others.
Since season 2021/2022, after succesful audition, he holds the post of assistant chief conductor V. Sinaisky at the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, where during the past and current season he participated in number of concert projects and cooperated in addition to the chief conductor, with other cunducting personalities such as D. Raiskin, V. Boreyko, L. Bringuier or K. M. Chichon.
Since 2013 he sequentially worked with The State Theater Košice on titles Dialogues of the Carmelites (F. Poulenc), Rigoletto (G. Verdi), Falstaff (G. Verdi), and also on inscenations La Boheme (G. Puccini) and Les Contes d'Hoffman (J. Offenbach), which he musically prepared.
Since 2017 he cooperates also with National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Ostrava, where he successively performed in two ballet productions/The Three Musketeers (J. Kučera/P. Chalmer) and Coppélia (L. Delibes)/ and in current season also in the opera production The Broken Jug/Emperor of Atlantis by V. Ullmann. Also in 2017 he made his successful debut at the Slovak National Theater in Mozart's Abduction form the Seraglio, where in the season 2018/19 he took part also in the new opera produciton Don Carlo by G. Verdi.
In 2017 he also debuted in with new ballet premiere Three musketeers (J. Kučera/P. Chalmer) and in Slovak National Theatre Bratislava in opera premiere Abduction from the Seraglio (W. A. Mozart). In season 2018/2019 he worked also on new opera premiere of Slovak National Theater Don Carlo (G. Verdi) and in season 2019/20 he cooperated on new ballet premiere Coppelia (L. Delibes) in National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Ostrava. Since season 2021/2022 after successful audition he became an assistant of chief conductor V. Sinaisky in the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, where he participated in number of concert projects and cooperated apart from chief conductor with other other significant conductors like D. Raiskin, V. Boreyko, L. Bringuier or K. M. Chichon.
As a violinist he became already during the studies in 2007 a concertmaster of The State Philharmonic Košice, where he performs until presence and with which he regularly performs also as a soloist. He obtained reach experiences also as a member of several chamber groups. Most significant was his work with Quasars Ensemble and Albrecht quartet, Piano trio Animé, also as in Chamber duo with pianist Jordana Palovičová. As a chamber player he performed on many important stages home and abroad (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Bulgaria). In 2018 he performed his recital in Chamber concert hall of prestigious Shanghai Oriental Art Center in China. Since 2014 he is also an artistic leader of chamber orchestra Musica Cassovia. More than 12 years durates also his work of choirmaster of The Košice Teachers Choir.
